Wisdom Wednesdays: Look From Where You Are

Happy Wednesday!

It’s hard to believe that we’re already more than half way through January, but I hope that everyone is still remaining steadfast on their goals they wish to accomplish in 2014. A few weeks ago, I experienced a major teachable moment in my career. While emotions ran high and it seemed like time was moving faster than usual, I had to stop, BREATHE and intelligently (and quickly) make the decision on what was going to happen next. In moments of defeat, you can’t let people see you get anxious or stress out because that inadvertently speaks to your professional character. So never feel as though you can’t take a walk to calm yourself down, re-strategize and come back ready hit ’em with that flex.

Far too often, we look toward the future of what we hope to become — which is never, ever a bad thing. But have we ever so much stopped to think about how we’re going to get there? That’s why I love the quote above so much. We’ve all been so blessed as amazing and talented individuals, that we sometimes get caught up in thinking we automatically deserve the corner office, the fat paycheck and the accolades. Right now, at this particular moment — we are exactly where we need to be. Whether it’s in an entry level or mid-level position, take the time to really value what we’re learning in this particular space because it’s going to ultimately prepare us for that next awesome level. So on this Wisdom Wednesday, I challenge to you to “Look From Where You Are“, appreciate who you’ve become and continue to move forward to where you want to be! Dreams don’t work unless you do, so keep that hustle up.
