Let me be clear, Beyoncé has never stopped winning. I’ve always admired her as an artist, a visionary and a performer since her days in Destiny’s Child, but since then she’s become a force to be reckoned with. Her iconic brand continues itself, and she has rightfully earned the title as queen of the music industry. I don’t know about you, but she makes me want to be better, period. No matter how much shade one may throw her, she’s going I’m going to keep this as cute and brief as possible, so here are four reasons why she continues to win:
1. She went on a FULL world tour without dropping a note of new music. I won’t lie — I was perplexed as to why she would tour worldwide with no new music. But unbeknownst to myself and others, that didn’t matter because she was still going to sell out all of her shows, no matter what. According to those that attended The Mrs. Carter World Tour, she really did a number on some of her hits and provided stunning visuals and choreography. And she’s going back on tour in 2014! Girl, get it.
2. While we were sleeping (literally and figuratively), she dropped a brand new album (with 17 videos to match). So after my life was snatched from watching the winter finale of Scandal, I turn to the Twitterverse to vent and see that she has in fact released an album that NONE OF US KNEW ABOUT. And not just a regular old album with basic singles, no. She has released a VISUAL album. So let’s re-cap: shorty not only went on a full tour around the globe, but she solicited the talents of Pharrell Williams, Timbaland, Justin Timberlake, her hubby Jay Z and many many more to create an album with 17 corresponding videos (and rolled out a new website)…for your nerves! While I’ve only listened to a few tracks, I can tell so far that this album, while it gives you the likes of all of these artists, still is the essence of Beyoncé. (does that make sense?) The response that she gives as to why she chose to release her music this way is quite astonishing, and I couldn’t respect it more.
3. She’s raising her child in the public eye, protecting her marriage and still sharing what she deems is appropriate. Some artists get caught up in the hype of social media so much that they forget to actually use it as a tool to promote their content. Beyoncé is one of the very few artists that has learned how to adequately use social networks like Facebook and Instagram to not only promote her artistry, but also to give her fans a look into her personal life too. Just as millions of people do, she shares photos of her child, husband and family to show that regardless of the fame and fortune she has, these are things that matter most to her.
4. She continues to innovate the industry, all the while remaining true to her art. I’m not sure if y’all have noticed, but Beyoncé has broken all the rules and effortlessly continues to makes her own. From a marketing and branding perspective, her career could seriously be its own case study, but enough with my nerd-girl moment. Bey really wasn’t playing when she said she wanted to leave ’em with something to remember so they won’t forget. She’s going to continue to give her fans what they want and then some, and be one of the most innovative artists of all time.
And there you have it! Have you bought the new album? What do you think? Send me a tweet or leave a comment blow.
